What This Reset Will Help You Do

This Calm Down Reset is designed to help you slow your breathing, relax your body, and create space between your emotions and your response.

Through intentional breathing, calming visualization, grounding techniques, and gentle reflection, you'll reconnect with the present moment and allow your mind and body to settle.

Even a few intentional minutes can help you feel more centered, more in control, and better prepared to move forward with clarity.

Begin Your Calm Down Reset

Step 1: Get Comfortable

Pause what you're doing.

Sit or stand in a comfortable position.

Place both feet firmly on the floor if you're seated.

Relax your shoulders.

Unclench your jaw.

Allow your hands to rest comfortably.

If it feels comfortable, gently close your eyes.

Remind yourself:

For the next few minutes, I don't have to do anything except be here.

Step 2: Calm Your Breath

Take a slow breath in through your nose.

Count slowly to four.

Hold your breath for a gentle count of two.

Slowly exhale through your mouth for a count of six.

Repeat this breathing pattern three more times.

With every inhale, invite calm into your body.

With every exhale, release tension, stress, and worry.

Allow your breathing to become slower and easier with each cycle.

Step 3: Release the Tension

Bring your attention to your body.

Notice where you're holding tension.

Perhaps it's in your forehead...

Your jaw...

Your neck...

Your shoulders...

Your chest...

Your stomach...

Or your hands.

As you breathe out, imagine those areas softening.

Picture the tension melting away like ice warming in the sun.

You don't need to force relaxation.

Simply allow your body permission to let go.

Step 4: Find Your Calm Place

Imagine yourself in a peaceful place.

Perhaps you're sitting beside gentle ocean waves.

Walking through a quiet forest.

Resting near a calm lake.

Or somewhere that feels completely safe and peaceful to you.

Notice the sounds around you.

The colors.

The temperature.

The feeling of being completely supported.

Allow yourself to simply exist in this peaceful place for several slow breaths.

Quietly repeat:

I am safe in this moment.

I can choose calm.

With each breath, I become more peaceful.

I don't have to carry this all at once.

Remain here for several slow breaths.

Step 5: Ground Yourself

Bring your awareness back to the present moment.

Ask yourself:

  • What do I notice around me right now?

  • What is one thing I can control in this moment?

  • What do I need most as I move forward?

Trust the first answers that come to mind.

Allow yourself to focus only on what is within your control.

Everything else can wait.

Step 6: Return With Peace

Take one final deep breath.

Feel your feet connected to the ground.

Notice the calm you've created.

Slowly open your eyes if they were closed.

Roll your shoulders.

Stretch gently if it feels good.

Take a moment to notice how your body and mind feel now.

Choose one word to guide you as you continue your day.

Examples:

  • Calm

  • Peaceful

  • Steady

  • Grounded

  • Safe

  • Centered

  • Balanced

  • Present

Carry that word with you into your next moment.

Reflection

Take a moment to notice:

  • How does your body feel now?

  • What feels calmer than it did a few minutes ago?

  • What thoughts no longer feel as urgent?

  • What helped you feel more grounded?

  • What one word best describes how you feel right now?

Closing Encouragement

Calm isn't the absence of challenges—it's the ability to meet them with steadiness and intention. Every time you pause to breathe, ground yourself, and reconnect with the present moment, you're strengthening your resilience and creating space for thoughtful responses instead of automatic reactions. Remember, peace isn't something you have to find—it's something you can return to, one breath at a time.
